Gellert Elizabeth

E. G. reiste 1938 als Touristin nach Jugoslawien, emigrierte von dort aus in die USA.
1948 B.S. an der Universität Washington, 1951 M.A. Yale University, 1956 Ph.D. für Entwicklungspsychologie.
1949-1951 war sie als Kindergärtnerin tätig und 1951-1953 als Lehrerin an der Harvard Preschool. 1958-1961 war sie Fakultätsmitglied des Albert Einstein College of Medicine an der Yeshiva University in New York, dort 1958/59 Lehrerin, 1959-1961 Asst. Prof. und 1961/62 Asst. Prof. an der Universität Chicago. Ab 1965 war sie Assoc. Prof. am Hunter College. Ab 1972 war sie psychotherapeutisch tätig und war verantwortlich für die Lizensierung der Psychologie im Bundesstaat New York. Der Schwerpunkt ihrer Forschungstätigkeit lag in der Entwicklungspsychologie. Sie entwickelte den Gellert Body Drawing Test und den Gellert Index of Body Knowledge, der als ein Werkzeug zur Untersuchung des Wissensstandes und der Funktion der Gliedmaßen des menschlichen Körpers, zu einem Standardmaßstab psychologischer Forschungen insbesondere in Zusammenhang mit Kindern wurde.
