In Großbritannien Mitglied der British Psycho-Analytical Society; in Boston Mitglied und Lehranalytikerin der Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, Lehrtätigkeit in psychoanalytischer Psychologie am Simmons College, der School of Social Work; 1946 Vorstand der Psychiatrischen Abteilung des Beth Israel Hospital, 1961 als erste Frau Clinical Professor für Psychiatrie an der Harvard Medical School, 1950-52 Ehrensekretärin, 1959-63 Vizepräsidentin der Internationalen Psychoanalytischen Vereinigung (IPV), 1955 Präsidentin der Boston Psychoanalytic Society, 1962 Präsidentin der American Psychoanalytic Association; ging 1965 in den Ruhestand und war u. a. wissenschaftliche Beraterin in psychoanalytischer Psychologie am Radcliffe College in Cambridge. Gilt als eine der angesehensten Psychoanalytikerinnen.
